Before starting therapy, an evaluation is required to determine your child's communication strengths and needs and to create personalized goals. Assessments can include conversations with caregivers, observations during conversation and play, and/or the use of formal assessment tools. Assessments typically take one to three hours to complete. Reports can be provided on request for an additional fee.
Caregivers are encouraged to participate in the goal setting process. During feedback sessions, your clinician will give you feedback regarding areas of strength and areas which require some support. From there goals can be selected and prioritized; whether it's improving speech clarity, enhancing language comprehension, or refining social communication skills, your input is crucial in shaping the goals.
Every individual is unique, and so are their communication needs. Your child’s strengths and interests will be considered when planning sessions while drawing on quality, evidence-based interventions and strategies.
Sessions are 30, 45, or 60 minutes long, based on the needs of the child and family. We encourage parents to be involved in therapy activities whenever possible so they know how to use strategies and practice at home.
